Fishing
Behind this mighty fisherman lies the
Oak Ridge & Lake Avery State Wildlife Area.
It's a man-made reservoir that is stocked by the Colorado
Division of Wildlife (DOW) every year. Most people catch and
release but kids can keep 2 and adults 4. Fish from the
shore or you can bring a small
boat.
Serious fly fisherman enjoy the entire length of the White
River www.coloradofishing.net
. A quick drive to the bottom of the hill and you're
set for the day. Note these special rules for the White
River:

Special Rules
for White River – Rio Blanco County
From the headwaters
(including the North Fork and South Fork) of the White River
downstream to the Colo 13 Bridge below Meeker:
1. The bag and possession limit for trout is 2 fish.
On the Sleepy Cat easement, Wakara and
Nelson/Prather leases, and the Meeker Pasture State Wildlife
Area east of Meeker:
1. Fishing is by artificial flies and lures only. 2. All trout must be returned to the water immediately upon catch.
