 Where in the world is Meeker?
Meeker, Colorado sits in the northwest corner of the state
approximately 50 miles north of Rifle or 70 miles NNE of Grand
Junction. It's just over 200 miles west of Denver.

Where are the nearest airports?
- Denver (DEN)
is the nearest major airport but is a

hour drive.

Grand
Junction (GJT) is the next largest
with a roughly

hour drive.

Eagle
County/Vail (EGE) is about 30
minutes W of Vail and about a
2.5
hour drive.

Hayden/Steamboat
(HDN) is the smallest and services
primarily Steamboat ski traffic.
It's about a

hour drive.

Newcastle - The back way! If the weather has been
nice and you are driving an SUV-type vehicle, the dirt road
from New Castle to Buford is a spectacular drive. The
road is closed in the winter and you'll probably want to avoid
it if it has been raining...unless, of course, you
have a winch and enjoy pulling yourself out of mud holes!
If the road is good, it's about the same driving time as
going through Rifle and Meeker.
- If your private jet can handle the 6,500 foot strip
in Meeker (EEO), it's a quick
30
minute drive to the cabin.
 Where is Thunderbird Lodge?
The Lodge sits on a 40 acre parcel that's about 20 miles east
of Meeker and just South of Lake Avery, near a very small, one-store "town" called Buford.

Public Lands
There is plenty of public land for
recreation (National Forest, BLM and Wilderness
area). The PublicLands.org
website will give you a good overview. Select Colorado on the map
and Meeker will be in the upper left hand corner, 2nd quadrant to the
right
(under the Hwy 40 sign).
